Weekly STEMspiration ⭐️

This week imposter syndrome has been on my mind – it’s so common in women (myself included!), especially women in STEM. These reminders help me:

  1. Keeping score – Write down your wins, no matter how small. When your brain tells you “you’re not good enough”, you can go to your list and convince yourself otherwise.
  2. Reframe the narrative – Instead of “I don’t belong here”, reframe it to “I’m learning and growing here.” Nobody starts as an expert.

And if you haven’t seen it, here’s a link to Ilona Maher’s (Olympic-level Rugby player) interview talking about exactly why she DOESN’T have imposter syndrome – watch here.

My favourite part of the video:

No, I don’t think I have it… I feel like I deserve what I’ve gotten. I think that I’ve worked very hard.”

And here’s the thing, you deserve it to!

Community Updates 💜

Coming Soon

In October, I would love to host an online event, to make sure that FeminSTEM is accessible, and inclusive for those who in-person socials aren’t their thing. And I wanna know what you think!

Coffee chats? Casual virtual get togethers to share experience and swap advice? Or something more webinar-style where we get an online speaker or panel together to answer all your burning questions on imposter syndrome, how to be a great presenter or anything else!

If this sounds like it would be up your street, leave a comment and let me know or message me on LinkedIn 😊

In Case You Missed It…

The next meet-up is planned for Thursday 25th September!
Here’s the ticket link (they’re free), there’s about 7 tickets left to grab 😊 >>> Get your tickets here
