Calling All Women in STEM 📢
One of the biggest reasons for not being able to attract and retain women in STEM, is the lack of role models for girls and women. We all know “You can’t be what you can’t see”, so let’s change that.
I’m looking for one of you amazing women in STEM to chat with me about your experiences and lessons in your career (and life!) so I can share your story with our community. I promise I’m friendly!
Please believe me when I say, it really does make a difference be able to see and celebrate women who are working in these fields and thriving in their careers. You can be that role model!

Weekly STEMspiration ⭐️
As a female Project Manager in engineering / construction, I honestly struggle most weeks to strike the right balance of being –
- Direct, but not blunt
- Assertive, but not aggressive
- Confident, but not arrogant
If this is also you, here’s what helps me:
- Asking for feedback from trusted colleagues/managers
You might be surprised sometimes to know that the way you are thought of by others, is completely different than how you think of yourself (and most of the time, it’s better!).
2. Be yourself (I know – cliche!!)
But what I mean by this, is own your strengths as a woman in STEM. As a young graduate I thought I had to be like my male colleagues – confrontational, competitive, never asking for help. Which just totally wasn’t me. Now I realise, I have my own strengths that I bring to the role – collaborative, honest, empathetic, and understanding.
Forget about what everyone else is doing – try your best, follow your values, and forget about the rest of the judgements 😊
