In-Person Meet-Up Success

Last week’s FeminSTEM meet-up was a huge success! It was amazing to see so many of you connecting, sharing experiences, and inspiring each other.

Dog-Friendly October Meet-Up

After listening to everyone’s feedback from the September meet-up, we’re going to be creating a better environment next time for socialising with the whole group. Keep an eye out for details on our dog-friendly meet-up in October, bring your furry friend along and meet other women in STEM.

Online Meet-Up

Can’t make it in person? Join our next online meet-up next month to connect with the community from anywhere >> tickets here.

Weekly STEMspiration ⭐️

Her Spotlight

Meet Aurelia, an undergraduate student proving that there’s no single path into STEM.

She first thought design might be her future, but during her A Levels she found herself drawn to Computer Science. Aurelia decided to study Computer Science at Staffordshire, and secured a year-in-industry placement with IKEA. This gave her the chance to explore tech in the real world, and she discovered her true passion was for cyber security. Now, whether she’s experimenting with her own 3D printer or tackling new projects, she thrives on the variety and challenge that comes with working in tech.

Aurelia is also heavily involved in the STEM community, and helped grow Staffordshire’s Women in Computer Science society to over 130 members in just six months, creating opportunities for students and school pupils alike. She also founded Byte Queens, a community focused on breaking down barriers and showing young women that there’s space for them in tech. Looking ahead, Aurelia dreams of becoming a leader in cyber security. Her advice to others is to not wait for the perfect plan, say yes to opportunities, keep learning, and see where it takes you.
